Chinese traditional culture has a long and rich history, ranging from folk dances to stone caves murals. These cultural treasures carry a profound historical legacy, yet they have not faded away in the river of time. Instead, with the development of technology, they are renewing its glory in the present age. Please follow us to see their new look in the 20th China International Cultural Industries Fair.

As an intangible cultural heritage, Yingge dance has already gone viral. It is a folk dance that combines southern martial arts, drama and other local arts. This year, Yingge dance has successfully gone global, with street performances in London and Bangkok attracting lots of attention. What’s interesting at the fair is that the exhibitors brought many robots of Yingge dance. Lin Zhurong, Product manager of Guangdong Qunyu Interactive Technology Co., LTD told us that researchers do not simply let the robots imitate the movements of Yingge dance, but by learning the history and culture of Yingge dance to convey its connotation.

Have you ever been to the Mogao Grottoes in the desert? It is located at the western end of the Hexi Corridor in Dunhuang. It contains a total of 492 existing grottoes of murals and sculptures. But many grottoes can no longer accommodate tourists. To see the Flying Apsaras up close again, digital Dunhuang may offer a good choice.

According to the stuff of Tecent, Zhang Xiaogang, Tencent utilizes their gaming technology to revivify the Grotto 285 which no longer allows public visitors to enter and visit it. “We hope visitors can experience the inside scenes again through gaming.” He said. He proposed that in the future, there will be more and more revivification of the cultural heritages to enable people to walk closer to the cultural treasures.

Below Dunhuang, Gansu province, the exquisite shrines, masks, and statues at the Sanxingdui site in Sichuan showcase the romantic imagination and extraordinary creativity of the ancient ancestors. However, the bronze artifacts of Sanxingdui are not only preserved in museums, but also fill every corner of people's lives.

Wei Chao, the stuff from Department of Sichuan Cultural Industry Development and Promotion Center led us to go around the Sanxindui pavillion at the fair which includes XR technology restoring Sanxindui Museum, autostereoscopy of bronze wares and all kinds of cultural and creative products. He indicated that the IP of Sanxindui is incredibly popular that the revenue of Sanxingdui was around one billion RMB in 2023.

The rapid development of digital technology will no longer be limited to preserving or restoring traditional culture. It has ignited vitality for these historical treasures, endowing them with new value and significance in the modern society.
